Cory Rellas Net Worth: Boston-based startup Drizly Inc. plans to soon enter the cannabis e-commerce sector, as revealed in a new lawsuit that pits a Drizly co-founder who left the company in 2018 against his cousin who is now running the startup.
The alcohol-delivery company contacted potential commercial retail partners in the area and talked about the concept with state regulatory officials, it said in a filing in Suffolk County Superior Court on Friday.
In late 2017, it first decided to enter the legalized market for medical and recreational cannabis, and it expects to do so later this year, it said.
Cory Rellas Net Worth: $70 million
In a lawsuit Drizly filed against former CEO Nick Rellas on Friday, the plans came to light. The start-up accuses Rellas of breaching the company’s non-competition and non-disclosure agreements. Rellas stepped down last summer as CEO. He was replaced by his cousin, Cory Rellas.
The unwritten parts of the lawsuit point to a behind-the-scenes drama at a startup that, according to Crunchbase, has raised nearly $70 million from venture capital firms such as Accomplice and Polaris Partners, and operates in nearly 100 cities in the U.S. and Canada.
