Jude Chef Cornwall Wife:- Born in New Zealand, Jude has been a resident of the United Kingdom for more than 24 years. He owns and manages Kota and his sister restaurant Kota Kai in Porthleven’s Cornwall fishing town. After training in London under the famous chef and fellow Kiwi Simon Gault, Jude spent several years working in the top restaurants. His most recent post was with Antony Worrall Thompson when he met with Jane, his late wife. ‘Kota’ is Maori, meaning shellfish, and Jude has gained three AA rosettes and one Michelin Bib Gourmand from his unique approach to traditional seafood.
Additionally, the restaurant was chosen as one of the Top 50 Summer Restaurants in Britain, and Chef Jude was named “Chef of the Year” at the Trencherman’s Guide Awards 2019.

Influenced by his Maori, Chinese and Malaysian origins, Jude’s cuisine is inspired by Cornwall’s most delicate available veggies. He emphasizes technologies from his homeland, especially the safety rocket line of Cornishman Henry Trengrouse, which has helped save many sailors. The British Great Menu started on our TV in 2006 and currently broadcasts 16 seasons over 15 years.

The show’s structure follows chefs from eight different locations around the United Kingdom as they vie for a spot in the finals, where they will create a dish for a banquet attended by renowned visitors and guest chefs.

Competitors represent Scotland, the southwest, the northwest, Wales, central England, London, the southeast, and the northeast and Northern Ireland.

The topic for this year is British innovation, and entrants are required to demonstrate both technical advancements in the kitchen and contemporary approaches to cooking, such as molecular gastronomy and the use of gadgets and other food technology.

Jude previously told The Packet of the tournament, “You know the ropes, but you’re not sure how the pressure will affect you.”

“You’re going up against some incredible cooks.”

Jude, who is originally from New Zealand but has resided in the UK for 24 years, began his career as a trainee under renowned chef and fellow countryman Simon Gault before working at various prestigious London restaurants.

His most recent role involved working with famous chef Anthony Worral Thompson when he met his future wife Jane and relocated to Cornwall.

“It’s exhilarating. I’m overjoyed by the reaction on social media, particularly on Twitter. I believe a Cornish army is assembling to march on Scotland in protest at the fish course outcome!

“The reaction has been tremendous — I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.”

Jude, on the other hand, is a hesitant television star. Jane, who unfortunately died two years ago of cancer, convinced her husband to go for it.

“I was always hesitant to work in the restaurant’s front,” Jude said. “For obvious reasons, my wife Jane was always the face of Kota. I received a phone call one day from the producer of the Great British Menu, inviting me to an interview to determine my suitability. I couldn’t believe it was occurring.

“It concerned me much. I thought to myself, ‘Oh my God, I’m not going on television.’ I hung up and informed Jane that Great British Menu wanted me on the program, something I am adamantly opposed to. She said, ‘You are picking up the phone and dialing Great British Menu because it will benefit companies.’

“She was correct – I was quite hesitant; I had never want to appear on television.”
