Leon Garfield second wife- Mr. Garfield lived in Highgate, North London, together with his second wife, Vivien Alcock. During his war, when she was an ambulance driver and was a healthcare professional, he separated him from his first wife after only a couple of months of marriage. There was some resistance from both families to their marriage. He joined the Royal Medical Corps for his service in the war. He met Vivien Alcock during the posting in Belgium, who had then become his second wife (in 1948) as an ambulance driver and a famous child author. Leon Garfield was born in Brighton on 14 July 1921 and died on 2 June 1996 just a short time before the age of 75.

Vivien Alcock

His work includes books, stories as well as traditional and classical materials for children and adults. He has published over thirty books. The first book of Mr. Garfield was “Jack Holborn,” a pirate story he presented as a novel to the publisher, Constable. Constable nevertheless convinced him to adopt the novel of the kids and it was very successful.
