Puppy Bowl .Com: The Puppy Bowl is an annual Animal Planet television show that imitates a Super Bowl-like football match with puppies. The film, shown each year on Super Bowl Sunday, consists of footage inside a model stadium of a batch of puppies playing with feedback on their acts. The first Puppy Bowl, opposite Super Bowl XXXIX, was seen on February 6, 2005. The puppies featured in the Puppy Bowl are from shelters. The entire initiative is meant to raise awareness about taking pets from shelters and saving unwanted animals.
A fantasy football draft was launched to allow fans to pick the puppy they thought would score the most points. As cheerleaders, Puppy Bowl XI featured five Nigerian dwarf goats. The “Katty Furry” was “half-time performer”, a cat depicted performing Katy Perry songs in YouTube videos.
In each of the first three airings of the show, MVPs were selected. For the first time, the puppies were split into teams, and a hamster-powered scoreboard held the score. On the program, celebrities such as Andy Cohen, Whitney Cummings, and Reese Witherspoon seemed to cheer for “their team” and during the show an animated short featuring The Simpsons. Images were sent by animals with large followings on Instagram, showing their love for each team as well.
