X Ladies X Reviews: At the beginning of the 1938 film, the Divorce of Lady X, the young talented divorce lawyer Everard Logan (sir Laurence Olivier) looks up to the situation. His future looks positive. He has a host of loving women who compete for him. In a crowded hotel even on a night when London is cleared in fog and cabs cannot carry passengers home. But his happy life takes an unexpected turn in this foggy night in London. The hotel has a huge masquerade ball, which is not visible to guests and which is trapped.
With his ability to read women’s behavior, he is very proud. It’s apparently part of why he’s such a successful lawyer. “I don’t know the ladies, I know myself, and I know myself.” “In five minutes they would have me out of here.”
The hotel manager attempts to accommodate some of the ladies by inviting guests to sleep in their suites with rooms. He’s coolly rejected when he asks Logan for some help. Logan you see, he knows the women very well and one of them would ask for trouble to sleep on the sofa in his living room.
